ASRA and IDF were back at it again with 2016 Mt Keira Downhill Skate Festival in February. Steezy man!Held in Woolongong. Only this time, most of the second half of the track is now brand new butter smooth asphalt! WeRIdeSideways was there for the finals to catch a few flicks of the madness!
Mt Keira what a mad weekend?! Beautiful conditions start to finish when the forecast was for rain! Coudn't get any better. Max Ballesteros took out the Open Finals in crazy close photo finish. With a controversial decision given Jackson Sharpiera from Australia and Douglas Silva (Delure) from Brazil a tie second with Brennan Bast also from Australia coming in fourth. One of our favourites Emily Pros was in fine form as usual (actually beating Jacko in one of their opens heats) took the ladies division out, with Maga McWhinnie second and Elissa Mah third. Yeah Girls!
A complete Aussie podium for the Masters and almost for the Juniors. Our very own home grown legend Benjamin Hay having a Hay day, taking out number one. Close behind was Adam Yates and Ryan Nicholls, with Jaydon Howarth firt in the Juniors.
Big thanks to ASRA, IDF, Basement Skate, Hopkins, WeRideSideways, Octolion and all the volunteers that helped and donated their time for this, it wouldn't happen without your generous souls. ASRA and IDF congratulations you've solidified it for five years. You guys are legends it was such a blast, a smooth running event thoroughly enjoyed by all. Looking forward to next year YEAWW!
